Jaspers Head To Jersey For Weekend Matches

Lawrenceville, NJ - Manhattan volleyball will play its last two road matches of the season this weekend, taking on Rider at noon on Saturday, November 3 and Saint Peter's the following day, starting at 1 p.m.

Match Notes:
  • The Jaspers (4-22, 2-11 MAAC) will face Rider for the first time this season. The Broncs currently sit at third in the MAAC standings, with a 14-9 overall record and a 9-5 record in the league. 
  • Manhattan will have a rematch with Saint Peter's (6-23, 3-12 MAAC), having fallen to the Peacocks in three sets at home on September 19. 
  • Jasper freshman Vivian Donovan (Newport Beach, CA / Newport Harbor) earned her first MAAC weekly honor this past week. She was named Co-Rookie of the Week after averaging 3.12 kills per set over two matches to lead the Jaspers, as well as 2.12 digs per set for the week. She posted a career-high 19 kills against Niagara on October 28, in addition to 11 digs. 
  • In their last outing, the Jaspers fell to Niagara in five sets, with just a seven-point (79-72) overall difference between the two teams. The match saw 28 tied scores and 14 lead changes, finishing 23-25, 25-23, 25-21, 21-25, 15-6 to Niagara's advantage. It was just the second five-set match for Manhattan so far this season. 
  • Manhattan libero Reyn Hoffman (Ventura, CA / Ventura) set a career-high of 22 digs against the Purple Eagles, also a match-high, while Erin Hoener (St. Louis, MO / Incarnate Word) added 12 kills to the day's effort on .458 hitting, her second-best attack performance this season.
  • Rider leads the MAAC in team blocks per set (2.23), with Bronc Perry Williams leading the league in individual blocks per set (1.12). Teammate Anilee Sher ranks first in the conference for service aces per set (.48), in addition to ranking third in assists per set (9.67). 
  • Saint Peter's Alexus Sharp currently sits at 10th in the MAAC for average hitting percentage (.276). In the last meeting of the Peacocks and Jaspers, she totaled six kills, just behind teammate Angelleyshka Curbelo's match-high nine kills.
