Loudonville, NY - Manhattan volleyball picked up its first win of the season Sunday, downing Siena 3-0 on the road. Manhattan improves to 1-17 overall and 1-7 in the MAAC, while Siena drops to 1-18 and 0-8 in the league.Â
Highlights:
- Manhattan swept the Saints 25-9, 25-19, and 25-18 for the decisive victory.
- The Jaspers hit a combined .344 for the match, including a .500 first set, for the Jaspers' best attack performance of the season. Manhattan held Siena to a hitting percentage of just .071.
- Freshman Vivian Donovan (Newport Beach, CA / Newport Harbor) put up a new career-high in kills, with 16 to lead all scorers. She nabbed six in the first set to help the Jaspers to a powerful 25-9 start.
- Donovan also added five service aces in the match, another career high.Â
- Sophomore Erin Hoener (St. Louis, MO / Incarnate Word) posted a match-high five blocks for Manhattan, a season-high. She leads the team with 45 on the year.Â
- Freshman setter Shruti Mangipudi (San Ramon, CA / Doughtery Valley) nabbed 34 assists, nearly double Siena's team assist total of 18. She was just two away from her career-best 36, earned Oct. 6 at Marist.Â
- Libero Alyssa Rehrer (Lorton, VA / South County) totaled 18 digs against the Saints, helping Manhattan to a 52-32 dig advantage in the match that was key to the Jaspers' win. Rehrer has earned double-digit digs in Manhattan's last four matches, and she is averaging 4.27 digs per set this season. Â
