Manhattan Set To Take On Quinnipiac, Rider

Riverdale, NY – With its two-game homestand in the books, Manhattan men's soccer (9-2 | 2-1 MAAC) matches up with two challenging MAAC opponents in Quinnipiac on Saturday, October 6th and Rider on Wednesday, October 10.

Saturday's match in Hamden, CT begins at 2:00 pm. The Quinnipiac athletic department will provide a live stream of the game as well as live stats.

Wednesday's tilt with the Broncs takes place at Gaelic Park, with kickoff expected around 7:00 pm. The Jasper Sports Network will air the contest, while the athletic department will supplement the coverage with live stats.

In case you missed it…
Manhattan returned to the win column on Wednesday, dispatching Siena 1-0 in the Bronx. Forward Brandon Joseph-Buadi netted his team-leading fifth goal of the season in the 57th minute, while goalkeeper Micheal Kennedy earned three saves to notch his first career win.

Goalkeeping Greatness
  • The Jaspers have posted excellent goalkeeping statistics in 2018, with Kennedy and Marcellin Gohier excelling in action.

Eleven Starting XIs
  • Through 11 games this season, Manhattan has used 11 different starting lineups.
  • Forward Berti Fourrier is the lone Jasper to have started all 11 games and is second on the team in minutes played.

Forward Thinking
  • Manhattan's offense has received a big boost from its forward group, as 14 of the 19 goals so far have come from the attack.
  • Defenders Adrien Awana and Simon Busch have accounted for the other five tallies.

Upcoming Milestones
  • Manhattan is one win shy of tying the program record for most wins in a season, a feat they've reached in four other seasons (1977, 1980, 1990 and 1991).
  • Gohier needs one more clean sheet to become the Jaspers' all-time leader in shutouts.
  • Joseph-Buadi is one point away from setting a new career-high after establishing a new goals benchmark with Wednesday's strike.

Scouting Report: Quinnipiac
  • The Bobcats enter Saturday's duel on a four-game winning streak, most recently beating Saint Peter's 3-2 on Wednesday. They are 4-4-1 overall with a 2-0 record in conference play.
  • Junior Eamon Whalen tops the Quinnipiac attack with a MAAC-high six goals and 13 points.
  • Sophomore Jared Mazzola has made the last six starts in net. He is 4-2 with a 1.15 goals-against average, and his .829 save percentage is second only to Gohier in the conference. His 5.67 saves per game is fourth in NCAA Division I soccer.
  • Quinnipiac was tabbed fourth in the preseason poll, five votes ahead of Manhattan. Defender Conor McCoy was selected to the All-MAAC Preseason Team.
  • This game will be a rematch of the 2018 MAAC Quarterfinal matchup between the #4 Jaspers and the #5 Bobcats last year at Gaelic Park, the first postseason game held in the Bronx. Quinnipiac took that game and the squads' regular season contest 1-0 last season.

Scouting Report: Rider
  • Rider holds the top spot in the MAAC standings heading into the weekend, boasting a 3-0 record with wins over Iona, Marist and Niagara. Overall, the team is 4-5-1.
  • Graduate student Elliott Otmani has provided four of the side's nine goals on the year and has 11 total.
  • Sophomore Pablo Gatinois is Rider's statistical leader in goal, going 4-2 with a 0.63 goals-against average and a .818 save percentage that's ranked 16th in the nation.
  • When the Jaspers and the Broncs last faced on another, both sides were 4-0 in the MAAC, and Rider was #25 in the USC rankings. Manhattan battled the Broncs in Lawrenceville, NJ all the way to the 109th minute before falling 1-0.
  • Rider is 13-4-5 in the all-time series.
