Poughkeepsie, NY - Manhattan volleyball travels to both Marist (8-8, 5-1 MAAC) and Siena (1-16, 0-6 MAAC) this weekend, an upstate swing to open the month of October.
The Jaspers will take on the Red Foxes Saturday, October 6 at 1:00 pm in McCann Arena. On Sunday, Manhattan will play the Saints on their home court at Alumni Recreation Center, also starting at 1:00 pm.
Match Notes:
- Manhattan (0-17, 0-6 MAAC) opened the last two matches with first-set wins, defeating both Niagara and Canisius in match openers, but falling in the next three sets. The Jaspers' first-set against Canisius on September 30 ended in a 37-35 Manhattan victory, the longest set played by a MAAC team so far this season.
- Freshman hitter Vivian Donovan (Newport Beach, CA / Newport Harbor) paced the Jaspers with 23 kills last week, earning a career-high 12 against Niagara on September 29. She leads the team in kills in MAAC play at 42.
- Senior Alyssa Rehrer (Lorton VA / South County) earned two assist-dig double-double outings last weekend, the second and third of her career. She ranks fifth in the MAAC in digs per set (4.04). Rehrer's career dig total now sits at 1,270, just five away from tying Malia McGuiness (2011-14) for sixth on Manhattan's all-time digs list.
- At 5-1 in conference, Marist ties Iona for second place in the league standings. The Red Foxes' Nikki DeSerpa sits at third in the MAAC in kills per set, averaging 3.20. DeSerpa is also Marist's top point-getter at 3.64 per set.
- As a team, Marist has averaged a hitting percentage of .183 so far this season, the fourth-best in the MAAC, while holding opponents to a .191 percentage.
- The Red Foxes also top the league in blocks per set, averaging 1.91.
- Marist sophomore middle blocker Chidera Udeh ranks second in the MAAC in hitting percentage this season, sitting at .338.
- Like the Jaspers, Siena (0-6) remains winless in the MAAC. The Saints rank ninth overall in team hitting percentage (.139), as well as ninth in opponent hitting percentage (.275).
- Sophomore outside hitter Nicole Doebler, the Saints' top point-earner, ranks 10th in the MAAC in points per set, averaging 2.99. She also averages 2.5 kills per set to lead Siena.
