Riverdale, NY -
In a second half that featured seven lead changes, Ryan Funk's corner three pointer with 0.8 seconds to play proved to be the difference in Marist's 62-59 win over Manhattan in MAAC action at Draddy Gymnasium.

The Red Foxes improve to 5-17 and 3-7 in the league while the Jaspers fall to 10-13 and 5-6 in the MAAC.

Senior Rich Williams (Brooklyn, NY / Vermont Academy (VT)) paced Manhattan with 19 points to go along with six rebounds while classmate Zane Waterman (Winston-Salem, NC / Fayetteville Academy) added 17 points and eight rebounds.

Marist opened the game by scoring eight of the first nine points before sophomore Aaron Walker Jr. (Brooklyn, NY / Cardozo) hit a three pointer. After Funk responded with a three of his own, Manhattan ripped off 16-straight points in just 3:19. During the spurt, Waterman and Williams each canned two three pointers as the Jaspers took a 20-11 lead at the 11:15 mark of the first half.

The Red Foxes would respond with eight-straight points en route to entering halftime down 29-26.

After intermission, the Jasper lead would grow to eight on a pair of occasions before Marist used a 9-2 spurt to reclaim the lead at 47-45 with 7:00 to play. Senior Zavier Turner (Indianapolis, IN / Ball State) would answer with a pair of jumpers in staking Manhattan to a 49-47 advantage with 4:51 to play.

Brian Parker responded with six of the next eight points as the visitors clung to a 53-51 lead with 3:20 remaining. Manhattan would again answer with a Thomas Capuano (Jr., Hastings-on-Hudson, NY / Iona Prep) triple off a Turner kick to the corner.

After holding strong on defense on back-to-back possessions, sophomore Pauly Paulicap (Elmont, NY / Harcum College) and Turner each hit a pair at the line in extending the Jasper advantage out to 58-53 with 1:33 to play.

Marist quickly hit a three pointer before forcing a turnover that resulted in Parker splitting a pair at the line in making it a one-point game at the one-minute mark. Both teams came up short on the ensuing possessions with Williams splitting a pair at the line in making it a two-point game with less than 10 seconds to play.

Unfortunately, the Red Foxes would answer with the aforementioned three pointer before adding a pair of free throws in recording the final 62-59 score.
