Riverdale, NY -
The Manhattan Jaspers (4-9, 1-1) look for their second Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) win of the season as they play their third home contest in a row against Canisius (3-10, 1-1) on Thursday, January 4 at 11 a.m. in Draddy Gymnasium.

Top Storylines:
  • The Jaspers won their first MAAC game of the season 76-64 over New York Metro area rival Saint Peter's on December 28. Manhattan then fell to preseason favorite Quinnipiac 80-64 on December 31.
  • Canisius won its first MAAC game of the 2017-18 season over Iona 53-49 on January 2. Prior to that, the Golden Griffins lost to Fairfield 56-52 on December 29. Both of Canisius' league games have been decided by a margin of just four points.
  • Senior center Kayla Grimme  (Altoona, PA / Altoona Area) leads Manhattan in scoring (15.6 per game) and rebounds (7.5 per game) this season. Senior guard and captain Amani Tatum (Cambria Heights, NY / James Madison) has averaged 12.2 points, 4.3 assists, and 4.5 rebounds per game, as well. Grimme and Tatum were each named to the MAAC preseason second team this year.

  • The Jaspers fell to Canisius 58-48 in the last meeting of the teams on February 2, 2017 at Koessler Athletic Center. Tatum led Manhattan with 17 points, while Grimme and Mikki Guiton (Schwenksville, PA / Perkiomen Valley) both registered a double-double, the last time two Jaspers tallied double-doubles in the same game. Grimme finished with 14 points and 10 boards, while Guiton put in 12 and added a career-high 11 rebounds.
  • Canisius leads the all-time series 24-34. The Jaspers last won against the Griffs 77-55 on February 5, 2016, earning the 499th win in program history and snapping a two-game losing streak against Canisius. Grimme recorded her 100th career block in the contest.
  • With 1,176 career points, Grimme is three points away from leapfrogging Tiffany Schettig (1,178 points) for 12th place on Manhattan's all-time scoring list. Schettig played 116  games for Manhattan from 1999-2003.
  • Grimme is also tied with Lindsey Loutsenhizer (2008-12) for sixth on the all-time rebounding list at 795.
