Uniondale, NY - Manhattan trimmed a 13-point deficit to four late in the second half but could get no closer in dropping a 78-65 decision to Iona in MAAC action at NYCB Live.

Zane Waterman (Winston-Salem, NC / Fayetteville Academy) was outstanding with 18 points and 12 rebounds in notching his sixth career double-double to lead the way for the Jaspers, which fell to 10-12 and 5-5 in the MAAC.
Schadrac Casimir scored a game-high 20 points to pace six double-figure scorers for the Gaels, which improve to 13-8 and 7-2 in the MAAC.
Iona opened up a 55-43 lead with 10:44 to play when Manhattan made its move. Senior
Zavier Turner (Indianapolis, IN / Ball State) split a pair from the line before senior
Calvin Crawford (Middletown, NY / St. Thomas More (CT)) canned a triple. After the Gaels briefly answered, Waterman hit a jumper and Turner a pair from the line in making it a 57-51 game with 8:37 remaining.
E.J. Crawford responded with a tough running lay-up only to have sophomore
Aaron Walker Jr. (Brooklyn, NY / Cardozo) hit a three pointer.
The teams would trade buckets before Turner hit a long three pointer off a Walker Jr. feed to trim the Iona' advantage to 63-59 with 5:40 to play.
After holding firm on the defensive end, Manhattan misfired on a pair of shots that would have made it a one-possession game as Roland Griffin converted a three-point play to extend the Iona lead out to seven.
The Jaspers would cut it to five on three more occasions but was unable to get any closer as the Gaels ended the game with eight-straight points in posting the aforementioned 78-65 victory.
Turner matched Waterman with 18 points while Walker Jr. chipped in with 12 points and Crawford 11 to round out the double-figure scorers for Manhattan.
The Jaspers owned the glass to the tune of 39-27, including 17-4 on the offensive end, while posting a 19-6 advantage in second-chance points.
