Riverdale, NY - Senior
Rich Williams (Brooklyn, NY / Vermont Academy (VT)) scored a game-high 21 points while joining the school's 1,000-point club in Manhattan's 72-61 win over Siena in MAAC action at Draddy Gymnasium.
With the victory, the Jaspers improve to 9-9 and 4-2 in the MAAC with league-leading Canisius coming to town on Friday, January 19 at 9:00 pm in a game that will be televised by
ESPNU.
Defense was the name of the game as Manhattan notched a season-high 25 forced turnovers with 11 steals.
Leading 57-55 with 4:54 to play in regulation, the Jaspers took it to another level in finishing off the win. Sophomore
Pauly Paulicap (Elmont, NY / Harcum College) immediately answered with a dunk on the ensuing possession off a feed from classmate
Aaron Walker Jr. (Brooklyn, NY / Cardozo) in sparking a game-ending 15-6 run as Manhattan scored on eight of its final 10 possessions.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Since
Steve Masiello took over prior to the 2011-2012 season, the Jaspers are now 23-12 when forcing at least 20 turnovers and 40-10 when hitting the 10-steal mark.
- The 25 forced turnovers are the most since pressuring Niagara into 25 in a 78-77 win on February 9, 2014.
- Manhattan held Siena without a field goal for 10:17 in the first half, including a span of 5:09 without an attempt.

Aaron Walker Jr. (Brooklyn, NY / Cardozo) had 10 points, a game-high four steals and four assists.
- Paulicap had 12 points, five rebounds and three blocks while registering at least three rejections for the second-straight game and seventh time this season.
- Masiello is now 5-1 at home this season and 54-27 in his career, including 41-20 during MAAC play.
- Jordan Horn scored 16 of his game-high 19 points after halftime to pace SIena, which shot 88.0 percent (22-of-25) from the line.
- The Saints also controlled the glass by a 31-26 count.
