Poughkeepsie, NY - Marist staved off a pesky Manhattan squad by scores of 25-21, 25-22 and 25-21 in MAAC action at the McCann Center.
The Red Foxes improve to 6-9 and 3-1 in the MAACÂ while the Jaspers are now 0-16 and 0-4 in the league.
Despite the setback, junior
Sandra Lozanova (Pernik, Bulgaria / Fresno State) had a team-best 10 kills on .391 hitting while classmate
Olyvia Chaltas (Temecula, CA / Great Oak) added nine kills and freshman
Erin Hoener (St. Louis, MO / Incarnate Word) six kills, on .333 hitting, with six block assists.
Junior
Alyssa Rehrer (Lorton, VA / South County) also had an impressive 17 digs in just three sets.
Marist was led by Nikki DeSerpa (12 kills) and Kelsey Ediger (12 kills) while Taylor VanDerBiezen added 36 assists.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
-Â Manhattan posted its second-best hitting percentage of the year, checking in with a .225 mark.
- The Japers 10.5 blocks also were a season-high.
- Lozanova has now notched double-figures in kills four times this year while Rehrer has done so in digs 13 times.
- Chaltas' nine kills match a season-high while her .217 hitting is a season-best.
- The second set featured 16 ties and four lead changes.
- Manhattan hit .259 in the second set with 11 kills and just four errors.
