Wappingers Falls, NY - Siena swept a doubleheader from Manhattan by scores of 2-1 and 12-1 in MAAC action at Dutchess Stadium.

The Jaspers and the Saints will conclude their series with a single game tomorrow at 12:00 pm.

Game One
Manhattan opened the scoring with a run in the bottom of the third inning. Freshman Alex Cerda (Miami, FL / Florida Christian) led off with a walk before moving to second on a Michael Pfenninger (Jr., Flemington, NJ / Hunterdon Central) sacrifice bunt. Junior Brendan Bisset (New City, NY / Don Bosco Prep (NJ)) then picked up Cerda with a clutch two-out, run-scoring single through the left side.

Siena would tie the game up in the top of the fifth as Phil Madonna led off with a triple before coming around to score on a Zach Durfee RBI ground out.

The Jaspers threatened to reclaim the lead in the bottom of the sixth as sophomore Fabian Pena (Miami, FL  Calusa Prep) led off with a single before senior Evan Brown (Asburnham, MA / Bridgton Academy (ME)) was plunked. Unfortunately, the pair would be left stranded before pinch-runner Richie Barrella (Larchmont, NY / Canterbury Prep) was left in scoring position in the seventh.

In the top of the eighth the Saints broke through with what would prove to be the winning run as Rich Gilbride led off with a double before scoring on a Dan Swain RBI single.

Manhattan would threaten in the ninth, loading the bases with two outs but was denied when Bisset's liner was stabbed by the third baseman for the final out.

Senior Jason Patnick (Hopewell, NJ / Hopewell Valley) went 2-for-3 to pace the Jaspers on offense. Classmate LHP Joe Jacques (Shrewsbury, NJ / Red Bank Regional) was the tough-luck pitcher of the record, allowing two runs on seven hits with six strikeouts, against no walks, over 8.0 innings.

Jordan Bishop, Brian Kelly and Madonna all had two hits to lead the way for Siena.

Tommy Miller (3-2) earned the win, striking out four while yielding one run on five hits over 8.1 innings while Dylan D'Anna got the final two outs in picking up the save.

Game Two
Siena scored three in the top of the fifth to a break open a close game en route to posting a 12-1 win over Manhattan in game two.

In defeat, junior LHP Tom Cosgrove struck out at least 10 for the third-straight game, finishing with 11 over 6.0 innings of work.

The Jaspers struck first with a run in the third. Cerda led off with a single before moving to third on a Pfenninger single. Freshman Anthony Rocchietti (Green Brook, NJ / Watchung Hills) then plated Cerda with a safety squeeze to account for the first run.

In the top fourth, the Saints got that run back as Jordan Bishop scored on a Brian Kelly sacrifice fly before breaking taking the lead the next time up on a Joe Drpich's three-run triple.

Siena put the game out of reach with eight runs in the seventh in providing the final 12-1 count.

Cosgrove yielded four runs, three earned, on just three hits to go along with his 11 strikeouts. Pfenninger, meanwhile, went 3-for-3 to pace the offense.

Brendan White (3-3) struck out three over 5.0 innings of work while Drpich had two hits and five RBI to lead the way for the Saints.
