FAIRFIELD, CT – The Manhattan College women's lacrosse team jumped out to a 5-0 lead and never looked back on Wednesday afternoon.  The Jaspers (3-6) held a 6-1 advantage at halftime and held on for a 10-5 victory over Sacred Heart (2-6) in their non-conference finale at Campus Field.

On a windy day in Connecticut, the Jaspers seized control from the opening whistle.  Emily Sandford (Floral Park, NY) started the scoring at the 21:35 mark of the first half, then Molly Fitzpatrick (Yorktown, NY) found the back of the net twice in a span of little more than a minute.  After goals by Caitlin Murphy (Carmel, NY) and Darby Nolan (Oak Ridge, NJ) made it 5-0, Sacred Heart got on the board with an Averi Farhat tally.  Talia Price (Kinnelon, NJ) then converted a free position attempt for her first career goal, while put Manhattan up 6-1 at halftime.

After goals by Murphy and Fitzpatrick extended the margin to 8-1 early in the second half, Sacred Heart scored three straight times to pull within 8-4.  However, Price found the back of the net again midway through the period, then Sarah Lang (Golden's Bridge, NJ), who'd already assisted on three Manhattan tallies, added a goal of her own.  The Pioneers recorded a late tally to close out the scoring in Manhattan's 10-5 victory.

Fitzpatrick and Lang each had four points in the victory.  Fitzpatrick notched three goals and an assist, while Lang finished with one goal and three assists.  Price, meanwhile, tallied two goals to go along with two ground balls and four caused turnovers.  Murphy contributed two goals and led the Jaspers with four ground balls and three draw controls.  Goalkeeper Nikki Prestiano (Yorktown Heights, NY) (3-6) made 10 saves, including six in the second half.

Farhat and Alyssa Pearce registered two goals apiece for the Pioneers.  Caitlin Delaney recorded the other Sacred Heart tally.  Nicole Holder led the Pioneers with four ground balls and four draw controls, and she also caused three turnovers.  Paige Hammick (2-6) stopped seven Manhattan shots.

Manhattan's final eight contests are all Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) tilts.  The Jaspers (0-1 MAAC) will play three of their next four games at Gaelic Park, starting with a 10 a.m. matchup against Quinnipiac (1-8, 0-1 MAAC) on Saturday.
