PISCATAWAY, NJ – In a contest that was delayed a day by weather, the Manhattan College women's lacrosse team (1-5) suffered a 15-5 loss to Rutgers (5-3) at High Point Solutions Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.  With snow blanketing the field, the game was called with 8:30 remaining.

Manhattan got on the board first when Darby Nolan (Oak Ridge, NJ) recorded a free position goal just 1:25 in, but Rutgers responded with a 6-0 run to go up 6-1.  Another Nolan free position shot made it 6-2 at the 12:32 mark of the first half.  The Scarlet Knights recorded the last three goals of the period, though, and took a 9-2 advantage into the locker room.

After Rutgers extended the margin to 10-2, Caitlin Murphy (Carmel, NY) found the back of the net twice in a one-minute span to bring the Jaspers within 10-4.  However, the Scarlet Knights started a 5-0 run less than a minute later, giving them a 15-4 advantage.  Molly Fitzpatrick (Yorktown, NY) capped the scoring with 11:13 to go, then Rutgers called timeout with 8:30 left. It was at that point that the officials decided to end the game due to the weather conditions.

Murphy and Nolan each scored twice, while Fitzpatrick also had two points with a goal and an assist.  Sarah Lang (Golden's Bridge, NY) led the Jaspers with three draw controls.  Emma Kaishian (Yorktown, NY) and Nikki Prestiano (Yorktown Heights, NY) each collected three ground balls, and Prestiano (1-4) made eight saves in goal.

Krista Dunphey had five goals and an assist for Rutgers.  Four other Scarlet Knights added two goals apiece, while Alana Navaroli controlled 12 draws.  Dakota Mason picked up five ground balls for Rutgers, which held an 18-12 advantage in that category.  Goalkeeper Bianca Dente (5-3) made two saves before being relieved by Devon Kearns.

The Jaspers return to action on Saturday, when they visit LIU Brooklyn (2-4) for a 4:30 p.m. matchup.  Last season at Gaelic Park, the Blackbirds notched a 15-12 victory over Manhattan.
