Riverdale, NY - Robert Morris used a big third period to break open a close game in an 18-8 win over Manhattan at Gaelic Park.

With the win, the Colonials improve to 2-1 while the Jaspers fall to 1-2.

In the first period, Manhattan opened the scoring following an impressive, patient possession as freshman Luke Hanson (Middletown, NY / Minisink Valley) found the back of the net off a nice feed from classmate Brandon Grinnell (Wakefield, MA  Wakefield Memorial) with the shot clock winding down.

Robert Morris would respond with five-straight goals before Grinnell found a cutting Matt Garvey (Sr., Essex Falls, NJ / West Essex) for the Jaspers' score of the day.

After the Colonials opened the second quarter with a quick goal, freshman Reid Martin (Buffalo, NY / Canisius) scored twice to trim the deficit to 6-4 with 7:54 to play until halftime.

Unfortunately, RMU got those two goals back in opening up an 8-4 advantage at the break.

In the second half, sophomore Parker Giarratana (Delray, FL / Boca Raton Community) came charging out of the gates with an impressive goal, beating his defender before taking contact and finishing with ease to make it an 8-5 game just 16 seconds into the third quarter.

That would be as close as Manhattan would get as the visitors finished the game on a 10-3 runs in providing the final 18-8 score.

Martin scored two goals with an assist while Giarratana also found the back of the net twice. Grinnell added three assists to pace the top offensive performers.

Junior Joseph Bressingham (Glen Cove, NY / (Nassau CC) was against impressive in winning 16-of-24 face-offs while adding a goal and 10 ground balls as junior Michael Zingaro (Cortlandt Manor, NY / Walter Panas) made 14 saves between the pipes to highlight the defense.

Adrian Torok-Orban scored four goals while Shane Majewski added three to lead Robert Morris.

The Jaspers return to action at Hartford on Tuesday, February 28 with opening face-off tabbed for 3:00 pm.
