Riverdale, NY - Claire Archibald had 15 kills and 11 digs to lead Iona to a three-set win over Manhattan in MAAC action at Draddy Gymnasium.
The Jaspers and the Gaels were neck-and-neck to start the match before the visitors used a 5-0 run to grab control of the first set en route to posting a 25-16 win. Freshman
Meagan Miller (Oakville, Ontario / Oakville Trafalgar) and junior
Sandra Lozanova (Pernik, Bulgaria / Fresno State) each had three kills to lead the way for Manhattan in the first stanza.
Iona posted a 25-14 victory in the second set, despite three kills from junior
Olyvia Chaltas (Temecula, CA / Great Oak).
In the third set, Lozanova and Miller each had three sets but it wasn't enough as the Gaels registered a 25-17 victory.
In defeat, Chaltas and Lozanova each had a team-high eight kills while sophomore
Taylor Hasley (Memphis, TN / St. Agnes Academy) had 20 assists and junior
Alyssa Rehrer (Lorton, VA / South County) a match-high 15 digs to round out the top performers for the Jaspers.
Manhattan returns to action at Rider on Wednesday, November 8 at 7:00 pm.
