Senior Rich Williams (Brooklyn, NY / Vermont Academy (VT)) scored a game-high 21 points to lead Manhattan to a thrilling 80-79 overtime victory against St. Francis Brooklyn in the season opener at Draddy Gymnasium.

The Jaspers battled back from a 10-point first half deficit to win their first opener since defeating La Salle 99-90 in double overtime on November 9, 2013.

In overtime, senior Zavier Turner (Indianapolis, IN / Ball State) broke a 76-76 tie with a jumper at the top of the key with 39 seconds to play. On the other end, sophomore Aaron Walker Jr. (Brooklyn, NY / Cardozo) stripped Jagos Lasic. After classmate Calvin Crawford (Middletown, NY / St. Thomas More (CT)) split a pair, Manhattan forced another Terrier turnover and senior Zane Waterman (Winston-Salem, NC / Fayetteville Academy) put the game on ice with a free throw. The visitors would hit a desperation three pointer but get no closer.

Williams was 9-of-15 from the field en route to notching his eighth career 20-point game while pulling down six rebounds. Turner added 16 points, Crawaford 11 and Waterman nine as the four Jasper seniors combined for 57 points and to go along with 24 rebounds.

The win was also the 50th for Head Coach Steve Masiello at Draddy Gymnasium and his first season-opening victory since besting La Salle 99-90 to start the 2013-2014 season.
