Lawrenceville, NJ – In a matchup featuring the only two teams without a conference loss, #25 Rider broke a scoreless draw in the 109th minute to beat Manhattan 1-0 on a rainy Wednesday evening at Ben Cohen Field.

Manhattan's winning streak ends at four games as the Jaspers fall to 7-5-0 and 4-1-0 in MAAC play. Rider moves into first place with a 4-0-0 conference record and a 9-2-0 overall record.

The Jaspers received a Herculean effort from goalkeeper Marcellin Gohier (Pouance, France / CENS) in both overtime frames. The sophomore made six saves after regulation, including a diving punch in the 108th minute to rob Rider's Pablo DeCastro. However, the play resulted in a corner kick, and DeCastro flicked a one-timer past Gohier with 1:30 remaining on the game clock for the victory.

Manhattan displayed strong defense early in the match. Rider's first shot waited until the 15th minute, a Clement Bourret boot that went wide left. The Jaspers followed up with three straight corner kicks. On the third attempt, however, the Broncs successfully cleared it away. Manhattan had three consecutive corner kicks again starting in the 29th minute, but could not find a way through.

The first half concluded with just five total shots from both teams. Forty-one seconds out of halftime, however, junior Callum Carsley (Birmingham, England / Princethorpe College) fired a shot from 20 yards out that slowly rolled wide right.

Four minutes later, Rider intercepted a pass in Manhattan territory and crossed the ball into the box. A sliding Bourret launched the pass over the net and the score remained level.

Manhattan had an offensive chance in the 65th minute when senior Jose Meza (Clifton, NJ / Paramus Catholic) crossed the ball from the left corner. Sophomore Noah Amissah (London, England / Orleans Park) directed a shot from 20 yards away, but it slowly skipped to Rider keeper David Pastuna.

It was a quiet first 90 minutes for Gohier, who only needed to make one save, which came in the 76th minute. Sophomore Tristan Doran (Jupiter, FL / Benjamin) helped him out with an impressive slide tackle to dispossess a Rider forward barreling towards the net with two minutes to go in regulation.

Gohier showed why he is the two-time defending MAAC Defensive Player of the Week in the first overtime frame. The sophomore made three saves in a span with 1:26, robbing two-time defending MAAC Offensive Player of the Week Elliott Otmani, Jose Aguinaga and Sylvain Coco.
