Riverdale, NY – The top two programs in the MAAC collide on Wednesday, October 11 when Manhattan battles Rider in Lawrenceville, NJ at 7:00 pm. The Jaspers then welcome Quinnipiac to Gaelic Park on Saturday, October 14 at 6:00 pm.
With a Win…
Manhattan would win its eighth game of the season, its most victories since the team won 10 contests in 1991 under head coach Bo Shashkewych. If they beat Rider, the Jaspers would also secure their third road win of the season, which would be its highest total since 2002.
With a win against Quinnipiac at home, Manhattan would win its sixth game in Riverdale in 2017. The Jaspers last had six wins in a single season at home in 1993. Manhattan has allowed just two goals in six games at Gaelic Park in 2017.
Beasts in the Northeast
As of Tuesday, October 10, the United Soccer Coaches placed Manhattan seventh in the Northeast Regional Poll. The rankings compile teams from the MAAC, the Northeast Conference and the Patriot League. The Jaspers jumped three spots from their number 10 ranking last week.

No Goals on Gohier
Goalkeeper Marcelling Gohier is turning in a phenomenal first season in Riverdale. Through seven games and over 632 minutes, the sophomore has allowed just three goals and registered 30 saves. He is fourth in the nation with a .909 save percentage and seventh with a 0.43 goals-against average. He was also tabbed as the MAAC Defensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week.
Shutout Watch
The Jaspers have seven shutouts this season. Their record in a single season is eight, accomplished in 1988. Manhattan is the only team so far that has not allowed a goal in MAAC competition.
Scouting the Broncs
- Rider is 8-2-0 overall this season 3-0-0 in the MAAC and 4-1 at home.
- The Broncs are on a five-game winning streak, which has included wins against #21 FDU as well as MAAC foes Monmouth, Saint Peter's and Quinnipiac.
- Elliott Otmani is the two-time defending MAAC Offensive Player of the Week and leads Rider with seven goals.
- Clement Bourett is first in the MAAC and fourth in Division I with eight assists.
- Goalkeeper David Pastuna is 8-2 in 2017 with 31 saves and 10 goals allowed. Rider has allowed just one goal in conference play.
- Rider leads the all-time series 12-4-5. However, three of Manhattan's wins have come on the road.
Scouting the Bobcats
- Quinnipiac comes into the week at 3-7-1 overall, 2-2 in the MAAC and 1-4-1 on the road.
- The Bobcats play Iona at home on Wednesday after thwarting Canisius 3-0 last Saturday.
- The preseason MAAC favorites have scored just seven goals all year. Preseason All-MAAC recipient James Doig, Max Rothenbuecher and Matthew Taylor lead the team with four points.
- Chrysostomos Iakovidis has played every minute in net for Quinnipiac. He has given up 13 goals while making 26 saves.
- Since joining the MAAC in 2013, the Bobcats are 3-0-1 against the Jaspers.
