Fordham Defeats Manhattan In The "Battle Of The Bronx"

Fordham defeated Manhattan 3-0 in the annual “Battle of the Bronx” at Jack Coffey Field.


With the win, the Rams improve to 3-1-1 while the Jaspers fall to 1-5.

Fordham opened the scoring in the second minute when Nicol Natale found the back of the net off a Brooke Salmon cross. Margaret Roughley added to the lead in the 19th minute on a perfectly executed header.

In the opening half, the Rams owned advantages in shots (10-1) and corners (5-0) in building a two-goal advantage.

Fordham added to the lead in the 76th minute on a Turner Block goal.

Freshman Olivia Printy (Ponte Vedra Beach, FL / St. Joseph Academy) and sophomore Kelly DiGregorio (Centerreach, NY / St. Anthony's) each made three saves to pace Manhattan.

The Jaspers will conclude the non-conference portion of their schedule when they host NJIT on Sunday, September 11 with first kick slated for 11:00 am.
