Juniors
Troy Carrington (Verona, NJ / Syracuse) and
Ajani Phillips (South River, NJ / Saint Peter's Prep) set the tone for Manhattan as each Garden State native used their speed and one-on-one play with the ball to push the tempo for Manhattan.
In extra time, senior
Niels Kirch (Zülpich, Germany / Virginia Tech) gave the Jaspers their best scoring opportunity but like in regulation the ball was unable to find the back of the net.
Sophomore
Connor Hayes (El Dorado Hills, CA / Oak Ridge) made four saves in 110 minutes of action in registering his first collegiate shutout.
Fordham's Rashid Nuhu also made four saves in earning a shutout for Fordham.
Each team took seven corner kicks with the Rams owning a 16-10 advantage in shots.
Manhattan returns to action at defending NEC Champion LIU Brooklyn on Sunday, September 18 with first kick slated for 1:00 pm.
