Wappingers Falls, NY - No. 2 Siena used a pair of big innings to defeat No. 6 Manhattan 15-4 in an elimination game at Dutchess Stadium.

Despite the defeat, the Jaspers returned to the MAAC Tournament for the first time since 2014 and finished 24-31 while improving their win total by six from a year ago as the Saints move on with an identical 24-31 mark.

One day after bruising the scoreboard for eight runs and 16 hits, Manhattan again put up a crooked number in the top of the first. Junior Jose Carrera (Miami, FL / St. Brendan) led off with his school-record tying 22nd double of the year. Later in the frame, freshman Fabian Pena (Miami, FL / Calusa Prep) crushed his team-leading ninth home run of the year and the second of the tournament to give the Jaspers an early 2-0 lead.

Siena immediately responded with four runs in taking a 4-2 lead before adding three more in the bottom of the fourth but the damage could have been worse as the Saints left the bases loaded.

Manhattan got two runs back in the top of the fifth as sophomore Adam Genners (Jacksonville, FL / Stanton College Prep) led off with an infield single before scoring on senior Chris Reynolds' (Wall, NJ / St. Rose) RBi double down the left field line. Reynolds would later cross the plate on Pena's school-record matching 22nd double of the year while trimming the deficit to 7-4 in the process.

Unfortunately, that would be as close as the Jaspers would get.

Siena put the game away with five runs in the bottom of the seventh in opening up what would prove to be an insurmountable 12-4 lead.

The Saints added three more runs in the eighth en route to posting the aforementioned 15-4 victory.

Seven different Jaspers found the hit column, led by Pena, who finished up 2-for-4 with a double, home run and three RBI. The MAAC Rookie of the Year ends the season as the team-leader with 22 doubles, nine home runs and 54 RBI while batting a robust .350.

Genners, Patnick and Reynolds all added two hits to round out the multi-hit performers for Manhattan's 11-hit attack.

Jordan Bishop and Tyler Martis each went 3-for-4 with a combined four runs and three RBI to pace a 14-hit Saint effort.

Tommy Miller (6-7) earned the win, striking out five over 6.0 innings of four-run ball.

The Jaspers will return 29 letterwinners, including seven positional starters and all three weekend starting pitchers.
