Riverdale, NY - Junior Joey Rocchietti (Green Brook, NJ / Watchung Hills) fired his first career complete game shutout to lift Manhattan to a 5-0 win over Fairfield in game two of a doubleheader at Dutchess Stadium.
With the series victory, the Jaspers are now 15-26 and 6-9 in the MAAC while the MAAC-leading Stags are 22-20 and 11-4 in the league.

Freshman Anthony Rocchietti (Green Brook, NJ / Watchung Hills) crushed his first career home run to left field to kick-start a five-run eighth inning while helping to fuel Manhattan's 5-0 win
Rocchietti's brother Joey, struck out four and walked four while yielding six hits in notching his third complete game in four starts.
In the seventh inning, Fairfield appeared poised to strike first putting runners on second-and-third with no out. However, Joey Rocchietti induced a 3-6-2 double play before inducing an inning-ending pop out.
After again squandering a scoring opportunity in the top of the eighth, the Jaspers finally broke through in the bottom part of the frame. Anthony Rocchietti crushed his first career home run before Ryan Gronlier (So., Doral, FL / Doral Academy) was plunked. After moving to second on a sacrifice bunt, junior Jose Carrera (Miami, FL / St. Brendan) reached on an error before stealing second. Freshman Richie Barrella (Larchmont, NY / Canterbury Prep) followed with a two-run single. Barrella then came around to score on a Christian Santisteban (Miami, FL / Gulliver Prep) RBI double. Santisteban then capped the scoring when he crossed the plate via a Jason Patnick (Jr., Hopewell, NJ / IMG Academy (FL)) sacrifice fly.
Joey Rocchietti then closed out the game with a scorless ninth in moving to 5-4.

Fairfield plated five runs in the top of the second en route to posting a 7-4 win over Manhattan in game one.
The Jaspers struck first with three runs in their first trip to the plate. Carrera led off with a single before stealing second and would come around to score on Santisteban's 200th career hit. Santisteban then moved to third on a Fabian Pena (Miami, FL / Calusa Prep) single. Sophomore Michael Pfenninger (Flemington, NJ / Hunterdon Central) followed with a run-scoring double to score Santisteban with Pena later scoring on a Patnick RBI ground out.
The Stags then plated five runs before adding another score in the third in jumping in front 6-3.
Pfenninger would get one of those runs back with a RBI double in the bottom of the third in trimming the deficit to 6-4.
After both teams failed to score over the next two frames, Fairfield added an insurance run in the top of the sixth. In the bottom of the inning, Manhattan loaded the bases with two outs but was unable to further dent the scoreboard.
Gavin Wallace then capped his complete game victory with a scoreless seventh in moving to 6-2 on the year.
Santisteban became the 15th member of the school's 200-hit club while scoring twice and drawing the lone walk on the day for the Jaspers. Pfenninger also had a big game, going 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI while Pena also added a pair of hits.
Troy Scocca led the way for the Stags, going 3-for-3 with a walk, run and RBI.
Manhattan returns to action against Albany on Tuesday, May 3 with first pitch slated for 6:30 pm.
