Hamden, CT -
Manhattan blasted Quinnipiac 17-11 in the game two after dropping the opener by a 5-3 count.

The Jaspers are now 12-23 and 4-7 in the MAAC while the Bobcats are 15-22 and 5-6 in the league.

Game 2 Recap:
Freshman Fabian Pena (Miami, FL / Calusa Prep) went 5-for-5 with two doubles, four RBI and four runs to pace a Manhattan offense that recorded a season-high 17 runs and 19 hits.

Trailing 6-5 with two outs and nobody on in the top of the sixth, the Jaspers turned in arguably their finest offensive performance of the season, registering eight-straight hits en route to scoring seven runs in taking a 12-6 lead. Senior Christian Santisteban (Miami, FL / Gulliver Prep) delivered the big blast with a two-run home run that gave the visitors the lead for good.

After Quinnipiac ralled for two runs in the bottom part of the frame, Manhattan added five runs in the top of the seventh en route to registering the aforementioned 17-11 win.

Freshman Richie Barrella (Larchmont, NY / Canterbury Prep) scored four runs to go along with three hits while junior Jason Patnick (Hopewell, NJ / IMG Academy (FL)) had three hits and a career-high five RBI with sophomore Michael Pfenninger (Flemington, NJ / Hunterdon Central) adding three doubles and three RBI.

Junior RHP Shawn Kanwisher (Washington Township, NJ / St. Joseph Regional) earned the win with 2.2 innings of relief.

Game 1 Recap:
Thomas Jankins struck out four over 7.2 innings of work in leading Quinnipiac to a 5-3 victory in game one against Manhattan.

The Jaspers jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after three innings on RBI singles from Pfenninger and Santisteban.

The Bobcats trimmed the deficit to 2-1 with a run in the fourth before taking the lead on Robert Pescitelli's two-run homer in the fifth.

Manhattan would tie it up at 3-3 in the top of the seventh when Anthony Rocchietti (Green Brook, NJ / Watchung Hills) led off with a single before scoring on a Quinnipiac miscue.

Unfortunately, the Bobcats reclaimed the lead with two unearned runs in the bottom part of the frame.

In the top of the ninth, the Jaspers mounted a one-out threat but were unable to dent the scoreboard in dropping a 5-3 decision.

Junior Jose Carrera (Miami, FL / St. Brendan) and Santisteban each had two hits to pace an eight-hit attack.

Junior LHP Tom Cosgrove (Staten Island, NY / Farrell) was the tough-luck losing pitcher, yielding five runs, three earned, over 6.2 innings.

Manhattan will aim for its first MAAC series victory of the year on Sunday, April 24 at 12:00 pm. Click HERE to watch tomorrow's free stream.
