Smithfield, RI - Four-time defending NEC Champion Bryant defeated Manhattan 16-3 in the opener for both teams at the Bryant Turf Complex.
Freshman Parker Giarratana (Delray, FL / Boca Raton Community) led the way on offense, finishing with his first collegiate goal and assist.
The Bulldogs scored the first nine goals of the game before Giarratana found the back of the net with 1:29 to play until halftime.
After halftime, junior Matt Garvey (Essex Falls, NJ / West Essex) notched the second Manhattan goal off a pass from senior Jimmy Rogers (Annapolis, MD / Dematha) before sophomore Conor Darby (Havermill, MA / Assumption) found out the back of the net off a Giarratana pass.
Bryant, which outshot the visitors by a 55-21 count, won 20-of-23 faceoffs and was led by Ryan Sharpe and Cam Ziegler, each of whom record four goals.
In defeat, sophomore Michael Zingaro (Cortland Manor, NY / Walter Panas) was impressive, making 17 saves between the pipes.
The Jaspers return to action on Saturday, February 13 at Wagner with opening faceoff slated for 12:00 pm.
