Riverdale, NY - Manhattan ended the game on a 12-2 run, including scoring the final nine points, en route to posting a thrilling 65-57 win over Rider.

Senior Shane Richards notched his eighth 20-point performance of the year and the 15th of his career, finishing with a game-high 28 points while going 8-of-13 from the floor, including 4-of-7 from deep.

In a match-up that featured 16 lead changes and eight ties, the Jaspers improve to 9-11 and 6-5 in the MAAC with the victory while the Broncs fall to 9-14 and 5-7 in the league.

In a back-and-forth second half, Manhattan was able to gain control thanks to shooting a blistering 63.6 percent (14-of-22) from the floor, including 80.0 percent (4-of-5) from distance.

At the final media timeout, Teddy Okereafor hit a layup and was fouled before hitting the free throw when play resumed to give Rider a 55-53 with 3:57 to play..

From that point, it would be all Jaspers. Sophomore Zane Waterman (Winston-Salem, NC / Fayetteville Academy) quickly answered with a three-point play of his own before Zedric Sadler broke the press and briefly reclaimed the lead for the Broncs with a jumper.

Junior Rich Williams (Brooklyn, NY / Vermont Academy (VT)) then gave Manhattan a 58-57 advantage with a jumper before the Jaspers held firm on the defensive end. Richards made the visitors pay with a three pointer before canning a pair from the line after a Rider miscue.

Waterman would add two free throws to cap off the Jaspers' game-ending 12-2 spurt, including nine-straight over the final 3:06. Waterman scored 10 of his 12 points after halftime while pulling down a team-best seven rebounds to pace the frontcourt effort.

Williams added 11 points off the bench while senior RaShawn Stores (Bronx, NY / Robinson School (NJ)) and junior Tyler Wilson (Bronx, NY / Cardinal Hayes) combined for 10 assists, against just three turnovers to round out the top performers for Manhattan.

Thanks to their strong second half, the Jaspers converted on 52.4 percent (22-of-42) from the floor, including 53.3 percent (8-of-15) from deep, and 72.2 percent (13-of-18) from the line.

Okereafor scored a team-best 19 points to pace the Rider effort, which saw the Broncs post a decisive 33-21 advantage on the glass, including 11-1 on the offensive end.

Manhattan will look to make it two in a row at Fairfield on Sunday, February 7 at 3:30 pm.
