Riverdale, NY - Saint Peter's used a pair of second-half runs to fuel a 61-40 win over Manhattan at Draddy Gymnasium.


The Jaspers fall to 12-15 and 9-9 in the MAAC while the Peacocks improve to 13-15 and 11-8 in the league. 

Sophomore Zane Waterman (Winston-Salem, NC / Fayetteville Academy) scored 10 points with six rebounds while junior Rich Williams (Brooklyn, NY / Vermont Academy (VT)) grabbed 10 rebounds to highlight the Manhattan effort.

Tied at 27-27 with 17:22 to play in the game, Saint Peter's scored 16-straight points before adding another 16-0 spurt in securing a first round bye for the upcoming MAAC Tournament by a 61-40 count.

Manhattan shot just 26.3 percent (15-of-57) from the floor, including 13.0 percent (3-of-23) from deep.

The Peacocks, meanwhile, converted on 46.3 percent (25-of-54) from the fllor and posted a 42-35 margin on the glass, leading to a 40-20 advantage on points in the paint.

Quadir Welton led all players with 18 points while adding a game-high matching 10 rebounds to pace four double-figure scorers for the visitors.

The Jaspers will host Iona on Friday, February 26 at 7:00 pm in a game that will be broadcast by ESPNU and that is already sold out.

Prior to the game, Manhattan will recognize its senior class before retiring the number 34 of legendary student-athlete, head coach and administrator Jack Powers at halftime.
