West Long Branch, NJ -
Sophomore Calvin Crawford (Middletown, NY / St. Thomas More (CT)) scored a career-high 22 points while junior Rich Williams (Brooklyn, NY / Vermont Academy (VT)) added 20 but it wasn't enough as Monmouth defeated Manhattan 79-70 at The MAC.

The Hawks improved to 22-5 and 14-2 in the MAAC while the Jaspers fall to 11-13 and 8-7 in the league.

Monmouth recorded the fight eight points of the game and led 11-2 over the first three-plus minutes but just like the teams' first meeting, Manhattan would methodically fight its way back.

Freshman Thomas Capuano (Hastings-on-Hudson, NY / Iona Prep) briefly stopped the bleeding with a three pointer as the Hawks would build their advantage back to nine at 18-9 with 14:39 remaining following a Micah Seaborn three pointer.

Crawford then scored the next seven Jasper points while sparking a 13-4 run to draw the visitors even at 23-23 at the 10:15 mark of the opening stanza, which was capped by the eighth point of the spurt by the lanky sophomore.

After Justin Robinson reclaimed the lead with a jumper, Williams answered with a three pointer while giving Manhattan what would prove to be its only lead of the night at 26-25 with 8:28 until halftime. However, Robinson would hit a three pointer just 19 seconds later as the Jaspers wouldn't lead the rest of the night.

Manhattan would tie the score up at 32-32 at the 2:51 mark following a pair of Crawford free throws before the Hawks closed out the half with six-straight points, capped by a Seaborn jumper at the buzzer.

Afrer halftime, the Jaspers cut it the Monmouth lead to three on a pair of occasions, but Manhattan couldn't get any closer.

The lead would grow to a game-high 13 as the Hawks snapped a five-game losing streak to the Jaspers by a 79-70 count.

Manhattan shot 42.1 percent (24-of-57) from the floor and 81.0 percent (17-of-21) from the line.

Crawford also pulled down a career-high eight rebounds while Williams added six caroms to pace the bench, which scored a season-high 47 points.

Senior Shane Richards (New York, NY / York Prep) scored all 13 of his points after halftime while pulling down six rebounds and sophomore Zane Waterman (Winston-Salem, NC / Fayetteville Academy) had 10 points and six rebounds to round out the double-figure scorers for the Jaspers.

Monmouth shot an even 50.0 perfect (28-of-56), including 62.5 percent (15-of-24) after halftime, and 75.0 percent (18-of-24) from the line.

Seaborn (22) and Robinson (20) led the way for the Hawks, which saw nine players find the bottom of the net.

Manhattan is next in action at Saint Peter's on Wednesday, February 17 with opening tip slated for 7:00 pm.
