The Jaspers are now 1-9-2 and 1-3-1 while the Broncs move to 7-3-2 and 2-1-2 in the league.
Rider dominated the action through most of the first half and would have found the back of the net if not for an outstanding save by sophomore Connor Hayes (El Dorado Hills, CA / Oak Ridge).
After halftime, the Broncs quickly opened the scoring when Elliott Otmani found the back of the net off a pass from Jose Aguinaga in the 46th minute.
Manhattan quickly countered with a shot but then saw its offense go stagnant before freshman Christoph Gums (Greifswald, Germany / Sportgymnasium Leipzig) delivered a beautiful crossing pass from 25 yards out on a breakaway that sophomore Ryan Shields (Standish, Wigan, England / Standish Community) collected and fired past the Rider goalkeeper in tying the match in the 77th minute.
The Jaspers had a chance to win it in regulation but failed to convert off a corner kick in the last 10 seconds.
In extra time, senior Niels Kirch (Zülpich, Germany / Virginia Tech) almost won it in the 108th minute only to be denied by Ryan Baird.
Hayes made five saves in earning the tie.
Manhattan returns to action at Marist on Wednesday, October 19 with opening kick slated for 7:00 pm.
