Delaware State Bests Manhattan, 2-1

Dover, DE - Delaware State scored twice early in the second half before holding off a late Manhattan rally en route to posting a 2-1 win.

With the victory, the Hornets improve to 2-4-1 while the Jaspers conclude non-conference play with a 4-3 record. 

After the teams played to a draw in the opening stanza, Delaware State scored the first goal of the match in the 63rd minute before adding to the lead two minutes later.

Reigning Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Defensive Player of the Week Nicole Aylmer (Garnerville, NY / North Rockland) put the visitors on the board in the 81st minute with her first collegiate goal off a free kick from 35 yards out.

Unfortunately, that would be as close as Manhattan would get in dropping its second-straight match.

Freshman Kelly DiGregorio (Centerreach, NY / St. Anthony's) made one save between the pipes in her collegiate debut.

The Jaspers return home on Saturday, September 19 against Canisius in the MAAC opener for both teams. First kick from Gaelic Park is slated for 12:00 pm.
