STONY BROOK, N.Y. - Stony Brook scored five runs over the first two innings en route to posting a 10-3 win over Manhattan in non-conference action at Joe Nathan Field.

The Seawolves improve to 13-11 while the Jaspers fall to 8-19.

Stony Brook parlayed two-out errors in each of the first two frames into five unearned runs before adding to the lead with run in the third before Manhattan broke through in the fourth.

After getting a runner aboard in each of the first three innings, the Jaspers finally dented the scoreboard in their fourth trip to the plate. Senior Joe McClennan (Highland Mills, N.Y. / Cornwall Central) led off with a single before moving to second on a ground out. Classmate Vin Teixeira (Hamden, Conn. / Hamden Hall Country Day) was then plunked before sophomore Jason Patnick (Hopewell, N.J. / IMG Academy (Fla.)) loaded the bases with a single. Freshman Brendan Bisset (Clarkstown, N.Y. / Don Bosco Prep) followed with a RBI single to plate McClennan while trimming the deficit to 6-1. Unfortunately, Manhattan would be unable to add to its scoring output as Stony Brook got the final two outs without incident.

The Seawolves got that run back in the fifth before adding three more in the sixth in going in front 10-1.

In the top of the eighth, the Jaspers plated two more runs in providing the final 10-3 margin. Junior Christian Santisteban (Miami, Fla. / Gulliver Prep) led off with a walk before Teixeira followed with a hit and Patnick a walk to load the bases with no outs. Bisset then drew a bases-loaded walk to force in Santisteban. Sophomore Matt Forlow (Cold Spring, N.Y. / Haldane) then plated Teixeira with a sacrifice fly.

Freshman Steve Arntsen (Manorville, N.Y. / Eastport S. Manor) was the tough-luck losing pitcher allowing six runs, just one earned, on six hits with one strikeout over 3.0 innings of work.

Bisset notched a two RBI, two walks and a hit to lead an offensive effort that saw eight players reach base safely.

Nicholas Dieva struck out two over 3.0 hitless innings in collecting the win. Jack Parenty was 2-for-4 with a double, triple and three RBI to pace Stony Brook.

Manhattan returns to action on Saturday, April 11 at 12 p.m. when the Jaspers host Quinnipiac at Dutchess Stadium. All three weekend games with the Bobcats will be streamed for free through JasperVision.
