Jaspers Upended by Hofstra on Long Island

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. - The Manhattan men's lacrosse team fell to Hofstra in a non-conference affair at James M. Shuart Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Hofstra defeated the Jaspers, 18-0, dropping Manhattan to 0-4 on the season. The Pride move to 1-2 with the victory.

The Jaspers struggled to obtain possession, going 2-22 at the faceoff X. Hofstra took advantage of the added offensive opportunities by recording 54 shots in the contest.

The Manhattan goaltending tandem of senior Michael Wiatrak (North Caldwell, N.J. / West Essex Regional) and freshman Michael Zingaro (Cortland Manor, N.Y. / Walter Panas) made a combined 17 saves in the outing.

Manhattan continues its season opening six-game road swing on Saturday, Feb. 28, when they travel to Connecticut to take on Hartford. The opening faceoff is slated for 1 p.m.
