Albany, NY - Senior Shane Richards (New York, NY / York Prep) scored 22 of his game-high 26 points after halftime, but it wasn't enough as Siena defeated Manhattan 89-54 in the MAAC opener for both teams at the Times Union Center.

Lavon Long scored 19 points to pace five double-figure scorers for a Siena squad that shot 49.1 percent (27-for-55) from the field.
In the second half, Manhattan trimmed a 17-point halftime deficit to 43-30 with just over 16 minutes remaining when freshman Thomas Capuano (Hastings-on-Hudson, NY / Iona Prep) found junior Zane Waterman (Winston-Salem, NC / Fayetteville Academy) for an easy dunk. The Jaspers had an opportunity to further dent the lead but turned the ball over and never got any closer the rest of the way.
Richards (26 points) finished up 8-for-17 from the field and 8-of-9 from the line in notching his third 20-point performance of the year and the 10th of his career. Despite being plaqued by foul trouble throughout, Waterman finished with eight points and a game-high seven rebounds.
Manhattan will next host Marist at Draddy Gymnasium on Sunday, December 6 at 2:00 pm.
