RIVERDALE, N.Y. - Quinnipiac scored in the third minute before adding another tally late in the second half to post a 2-0 win over Manhattan in Wednesday night Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) action at Gaelic Park.
In defeat, the Jaspers fall to 2-7-1, and 2-3-0 in the league. The Bobcats improve to 1-7-4 and 1-2-2 against MAAC opponents.
The visitors started quickly as freshman Matt Taylor blasted a direct strike from 25 yards out off a pass from fellow freshman Colton Grob. Taylor's effort sailed over the leaping attempt of Manhattan freshman goalkeeper R.J. Noll (Yelm, Wash. / Yelm) and inside the right post.
Manhattan appeared poised to answer in the second half as junior Timmy O'Driscoll (Yorktown Heights, N.Y. / Lakeland) fired a shot on goal in the 67th minute before senior Abraham Bartoah (New Haven, Conn. / Monroe) headed a ball that was snared by Quinnipiac junior goalkeeper Triston Henry in the 76th minute.
Quinnipiac then put the match out of reach in the 83rd minute when senior Nick Lasewicz found the back of the net off a pass from Ryan Scheiderman.
Noll made three saves in the outing.
Manhattan returns to action on Saturday, October 17, when the squad travels to Rider for a meeting with the Broncs. The opening kickoff is slated for 1 p.m.
