RIVERDALE, N.Y. - Rider snapped Manhattan's four-game winning streak with an 82-79 overtime victory at Draddy Gymnasium.

In a game that featured 13 lead changes and five ties, the Broncs improved to 12-7 and 6-2 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) while the Jaspers fell to 8-9 and 5-3 in the league.

In defeat, senior Emmy Andujar (Bronx, N.Y. / Rice) and junior Shane Richards (New York, N.Y. / York Prep) each notched 21 points while classmate Ashton Pankey (Bronx, N.Y. / Maryland) added 18 points, a game-high seven rebounds and three blocks.

For Richards it marked his third straight 20-point outing and Andujar's second straight as the duo along with Pankey all notched double-figures in scoring for the third time this season.

In overtime, Rider struck first on a Matt Lopez basket only to see Richards answer with his fifth triple of the game. Khalil Alford then sank a jumper to give the Broncs the lead at 78-77 with 3:46 to play. Both teams would go into an offensive stalemate over the next three minutes before Alford hit a layup with 31 seconds left to make it an 80-77 game.

Andujar then hit a pair from the line before Rider missed the front end of a one-and-one with 12 seconds to play. Unfortunately, Manhattan turned the ball over and the Broncs hit a pair from the charity stripe with just over a second remaining in posting the final 82-79 margin.

For the game, the Jaspers shot 50.0 percent (26-for-52) but allowed the visitors to make good on 57.4 percent (35-for-61) of their field goals. Rider was also able to convert 19 Manhattan miscues into a 30-12 advantage in points off turnovers.

The aforementioned trio of Andujar, Pankey and Richards combined for 60 points while the point guard duo of senior RaShawn Stores (Bronx, N.Y. / Robinson School) and sophomore Tyler Wilson (Bronx, N.Y/ Cardinal Hayes) combined for 10 assists.

The Broncs began the second half on a 6-2 run to open up its biggest lead of the game at 43-38 following a Teddy Okereafor layup. The Jaspers then countered with a pair of Richards three pointers and two Donovan Kates (Hopkinsville, Ky. / Christian County) free throws in reclaiming the lead at 46-43 with 14:58 to play.

Later in the half with the Manhattan advantage at 53-52 and just under 11 minutes remaining, Andujar converted an old-fashioned three-point play. Sophomore Jermaine Lawrence (Queens, N.Y. / Cincinnati) then hit two free throws to open up a six-point Jasper lead.

The teams would then trade buckets over the next four possessions and following a Rider missed shot, the Jaspers had a chance to further extend their advantage but misfired on two attempts as Okereafor drilled a three pointer to slice the lead to 62-59 with 8:10 remaining.

Richards immediately answered with a jumper before the Broncs scored six-straight points to take a one-point lead with 5:42 to play.

Andujar then stopped the bleeding with a free throw while tying the game up at 65-65 with 5:17 remaining.

The final five minutes of regulation featured four lead changes and three ties in a nip-and-tuck affair. Additionally, both teams misfired on potential game-winners in the final minute as an additional five minutes were needed to decide the rugged MAAC affair.

From the onset it looked as though Manhattan would run away with the game as the Jaspers scored the first seven points en route to jumping out to a 19-10 lead at the 12-minute mark of the opening stanza.

Following a timeout, Rider began chipping away at the lead before using a 10-0 run in taking a 30-27 lead with 4:27 to play in the first half following a pair of Anthony D'Orazio free throws. Pankey quickly answered with a dunk before Andujar following suit with a layup to reclaim the lead at 31-30.

The lead would be short-lived as the Broncs would embark on a 7-2 run before going into the break up one at 37-36.

Okereafor paced five double-figure scorers for Rider with 16 points, seven assists, six steals and four rebounds.

Manhattan will return to action at Quinnipiac on Friday, Jan. 23 with opening tip slated for 7 p.m. in a game that will air on ESPNU.
