Diving Records Fall at Fordham

BRONX, N.Y. - Manhattan's Scott Isaacs set a school record in both the 1 and 3 meter dives for the men while MaryLynn McMahon bested her own program mark for the third time this season on Wednesday night. Unfortunately for the Jaspers it would be not be enough as the men fell 156-116 to Fordham and the women dropped a 155-90 decision to the Rams.

The Manhattan men (5-2) had their four meet win streak snapped but did get a solid performance across the board. Lance Neuendorf, Dennis Daly, Christopher Reyes and Ryan Klages combined to take second in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:37.85 seconds. Neuendorf also took a second place finish in the 50 backstroke, finishing 0.05 seconds behind Fordham's Shintaro Noguchi.

The Jaspers picked up their first event win of the night when Mike Mackay won the 50 breaststroke in 27.62 seconds, followed by Daly who took second. The duo would again take the top two spots in the 100 breast, finishing in 59.14 and 1:01.00 seconds respectively. Reyes became the third first-place finisher for Manhattan with a victory in the 50 butterfly while Rich Llewellyn finished second in the event. Dallan Treanor went on to win the 100 Individual Medley and the 200 freestyle relay team of Neuendorf, Llewellyn, PJ Sweeney and Klages were also victorious.

Isaacs, who was diving in just his second meet, set a school mark by earning 189.98 points in the 3 meter dive. He then broke the program record in the 1 meter dive with 186.60 points.

The women (1-5) struggled against the depth of Fordham as they dropped their third consecutive meet. Manhattan did perform valiantly, getting a third place finish from Patricia Colton in the 50 free with a time of 25.99 seconds. Colton followed that up with a fourth place finish in the 100 free (57.28 seconds).

Kerry Schuermann was another top point getter for the Jaspers, taking fourth in both the 100 fly and 100 back. Manhattan finally got their first event win the 500 free as Paige Raccioppi finished with a time of 5:36.77 seconds with teammate Abagail Dempsey finishing second. The Jaspers then went 1-2-3 in the 50 fly with Melanie Tam winning the event, followed by Lauren Sciarrotto and Lindsie Holmes.

Kim Geissler won the final individual event of the meet, finishing first in the 100 Individual Medley. That would be followed by a win in the 200 free relay from the team of Madison Brown, Sara Buckley, Whitney Perez and Colton. McMahon, who broke her own school record two weeks ago, did it again by picking up 161.93 points in the 1 meter dive.

McMahon was named the performer of the meet on the women's side while Isaacs and Neuendorf shared the honors for the men. Both teams will take part in the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships this coming weekend. The three-day event begins on Fri., Dec., 7 at Lehman College in the Bronx.
