SAN DIEGO, Calif. - In the 1000th meet in program history, the Manhattan men's and women's swim team dropped decisions against Colorado Mesa State over the weekend. The men (7-4) fell in a close contest 61-68 while the women (5-6) also lost 48-81.
On the women's side, the team of Kim Geissler, Melanie Tam, Brianne Grant, and Vanessa L'Heureux put up the best time of the year in the 200 free relay with a 1:46.56 finish. Grant also had an impressive showing in the 50 breaststroke with a time of 33:63 seconds.
Tam placed third in the 50 freestyle finishing in 26.82 seconds while Paige Raccioppi (1:11.35 seconds) also finished third in the 100 Individual Medley just ahead of teammate Kerry Schuermann.
As for the men, freshman Lance Neuendorf continued upon an impressive rookie campaign as he led off the 200 free relay squad of Dallan Treanor, Mike Scire, and Robert Varieur to a third place finish. That quartet also placed second in the 400 free with a time of 3:29.44 seconds while Neuendorf finished the 50 back in just 26.00 seconds.
Mike Mackay was able to take second in the 100 Individual Medley with a time of 57.89 seconds while the Jasper sprinters of Varieur, Treanor, and Ryan Klages all finished with times below 25 seconds in the 50 free.
Both squads will be back in action on Mon. Jan., 21 as they travel to Bridgeport, Conn. to take on the University of Bridgeport.
