HACKENSACK, N.J. - LaKell Havens (St. George, Utah) posted 12 kills on .360 hitting and added eight blocks and two service aces to lead the Manhattan College volleyball team (12-13) to a 25-16, 25-20, 25-16 victory over Fairleigh Dickinson (9-17) at Stratis Arena on Wednesday night.  Diane Strutner (San Jose, Calif.) added a match-high 13 kills and 11 digs in the win.

With the first set tied at 8-8, the Lady Jaspers went on a 10-1 run to break it open, taking an 18-9 lead on a block by Havens and Alexa Lampasona (Remensburg, N.Y.).  Fairleigh Dickinson won the next three points to trim its deficit to 18-12, but Manhattan responded with a 4-0 rally to push its lead back to 10 points, 22-12.  The Lady Jaspers reached set point at 24-15, then Strutner slammed a kill to finish off the set, 25-16.

After the Knights built an early 8-6 lead in the second set, Manhattan rallied for seven of the next eight points to take a 13-9 advantage.  The Knights trimmed their deficit to 17-15 before the Lady Jaspers went on an 8-2 spurt, reaching set point on a block by Jaci Rahey (West Milford, N.J.).  Manhattan took the set by a 25-20 count.

In the third set, the Lady Jaspers jumped in front 8-5 before Fairleigh Dickinson rallied back to take an 11-9 advantage.  However, Manhattan took over from there.  The Lady Jaspers scored six of the next seven points to regain the lead, 15-12, then used a 6-0 rally to make it 22-14.  A Strutner kill gave Manhattan its first match point at 24-15, and the Lady Jaspers took the set 25-16 to wrap up a straight-sets victory.  Manhattan made just one error and hit .324 (13 kills, 37 attempts) as a team in the third set.

Havens made just three attack errors in 25 attempts, and Strutner hit .333 in the match, committing just two errors in 33 swings.  Rahey contributed seven kills and three blocks, while Jamie Collareta (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) dished out 30 assists to go along with eight digs.  Julie Bies (Massapequa, N.Y.) tallied 15 digs and two aces and Aurore Kullak (Beloeil, Belgium) notched 11 digs, as the Lady Jaspers outdug the Knights 53-45.  As a team, Manhattan hit .236 (36-11-106) in the match.

Violeta Slabakova, Sarah Berkland and Erin Roudebush each tallied six kills to lead the Knights.  Berkland also hit .364.  Sarah Willey distributed 17 assists to go along with two aces and six digs, while Kelsey Semler posted a match-high 16 digs.  Overall, Fairleigh Dickinson hit .000 (24-24-115) as a team.

Wednesday's match was Manhattan's final non-conference tilt of the season.  The Lady Jaspers (5-7 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) conclude their four-match road trip on Saturday afternoon, when they visit Marist (12-12, 7-5 MAAC) at 2 p.m.  The Red Foxes posted a 3-1 victory when the squads met in Riverdale on Oct. 16.
