Box Score Game 1

Box Score Game 2

Staten Island, N.Y. (April 2, 2008) ? The Manhattan College Softball team fell to Wagner College today in their double header.  They dropped the first game 7-5 followed by a 10-2 loss.  Melissa Donnelly went 2-3 in the first game hitting a three run homer in the first game.  In the second game, Erika Sullivan went 2-3 as she drove in a run.

In the first game, the Lady Jaspers went up 3-0 in the top of third after Donnelly nailed her first home run of the season.  Manhattan would put up another run in the top of fourth as Amanda Genovese singled in Jaci Rahey to take a 4-0 lead.  But Wagner rallied as they scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth to take a 5-4 with just two innings left to play.  But the Lady Jaspers answered back with a run of their own as Devon Gustafson singled in Lauren Menda to tie the game up, 5-5.  But Wagner scored two more in the bottom of the sixth and the Lady J's could not rally as they fell 7-5.

Donnelly was chalked with loss, pitching six innings, giving up nine hits and striking out four.  Genovese finished 1-2 with an RBI as Gustafson finished 1-3 while also driving in a run.

In the second game, Manhattan was down 2-0 after the first inning.  The Lady Jaspers tied the game up as Gustafson drove in an RBI in her second consecutive game and Nicole Michel scored on a wild throw.  But Wagner wouldn't let up as they scored eight more runs throughout the game where Manhattan was having trouble getting their offense going.  The Lady J's would fall and Wagner would complete the sweep on the day.

Genovese continued her hot hitting in the second game as she went 2-3 while scoring a run.  Gustafson finished the game 1-3 driving in her run alongside Sullivan's 2-3, one RBI performance.

The Lady Jaspers will return to action on Friday, April 4 as they will travel to take on LaSalle in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  The doubleheader is set to start at 3:00 p.m
