Kissimmee, Fl. (March 18, 2008) - The Manhattan College Lady Jaspers fell to the University of Dayton 2-1 before losing to Fairleigh Dickinson University 11-5 today at the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, Florida.
In their opening game of the 2008 Rebel Spring Games the Lady J's fell to Dayton 2-1 today.
Following their first game, they played Fairleigh Dickinson University. The Lady Jaspers were the first to strike as in they put up two runs in the top of the first. Danielle Just singled in a run after Kristina Walraven led the game off with a walk, and advanced to second on a ground ball hit by Melissa Donnelly.
But the Lady Knights came back strong, posting six runs in the bottom of the first and Manhattan was playing from behind, down 6-2 concluding the first inning of play.
The Lady Jaspers were down by as much as eight when in the top of the fourth, Just drove in her third RBI of the game with a bases loaded single to right field. Manhattan tacked on another run from an RBI single by Erika Sullivan which cut their deficit to five as they were down 10-5 going into the fifth inning.
But the gap proved to be too much as they fell to FDU. Just was 2-4 in the game, scoring one run and driving in three RBI's. Sullivan and Amanda Genovese were the other two Lady Jaspers to drive in RBI's on the day as Nichole Michel posted a 2-3 performance in the loss, while tallying two put outs and one assists.
The Lady J's will return to action tomorrow when they continue the Rebel Spring Games against Columbia University at 9:00 a.m. That first game will be followed by an 11:00 a.m. contest against Wisoncsin - Green Bay.
