RIVERDALE, N.Y. ? The Manhattan College men's soccer team dropped its non-conference match with St. Francis (NY) this evening in Brooklyn, falling 5-2. Jaspers Fernando Londono and James Gannon paired up for two goals, but Manhattan did not have an answer for Terriers' sophomore John Sallhag who also notched two. Robbie Weir tallied the game winning goal in the 45th minute.
St. Francis (NY) (7-1-1) got its first score of the game in the eight minute when Jeverton Delorenzi finished on a feed from teammate Nick Baum. In the 31st minute Sallhag placed a shot in the top right corner to boost the Terriers lead to 2-0.
Just 31 seconds before the half, Weir utilized a corner kick service, finding the back of the net for the third goal of the contest and game winner.
Sallhag tacked on another score in the 62nd minute, thanks in part to a precise feed from Anthony Matos at the top of the box.
The Jaspers quenched their scoring drought at the 66:10 mark, when Londono gathered a rebound off fellow forward Thomas Bandov's shot, and buried it into the back of the net. Gannon later scored in the 82nd minute, but it proved to be too little too late.
With the loss, Manhattan drops to 2-8 overall. The Jaspers return to action on Friday for its MAAC opener at Marist.
