Riverdale, N.Y. ? Manhattan fell to MAAC opponent Canisius College, 3-0. Sophomore Rita Welsh had a game high 12 kills for the Lady Jaspers.
The Lady J's came out in the beginning of the match and kept it close in the first game, as they found themselves trailing 5-3. But Canisius kept the lead and took the first game 30-19. In the second game, the Lady Jaspers came out strong and led the game, 14-12. But Canisius battled back and the score was tied at 18 with both teams leaving it all out on the floor. The Golden Griffins fought back and took the second game 30-26 and led the match 2-0. The third game proved to be a hard fought battle between the two teams as the score went back and forth. With the game tied at 20, the Golden Griffins pulled away to take the third game 30-25 and win the match 3-0.
Sophomore Rita Welsh had a game high 12 kills to spark the Manhattan offense. Alyssa Getzel's 36 assists paced the Lady Jaspers offense.
The Lady Jaspers will continue on their road trip to play Niagara University, tomorrow at 2:00 PM
