WOMEN'S LACROSSE FALLS TO #18 RUTGERS ON THE ROAD

Piscataway, N.J. (April 10, 2007) ? The No. 18 Rutgers women's lacrosse team notched its fifth-straight win with an 18-3 defeat of Manhattan on Tuesday night at Yurcak Field.

The Scarlet Knights jumped out to quick lead, with Katy Lawrence scoring the first goal of the game just 18 seconds into the half. Manhattan would tie the game at one on a goal by Brenna Tinari, but that was as close as the Lady Jaspers would come. RU went on to score four unanswered goals by four different players and held a 5-1 lead with 15:44 still remaining in the opening half. After a second Tinari goal with 11:00 to play in the opening stanza, the Scarlet Knights closed out the half with another four unanswered goals to take an 11-3 lead at the midway point of the game.

RU continued its momentum in the second half, holding Manhattan without a goal.

The Lady Jaspers were led in scoring by Brenna Tinari's hat trick.  Ashley Devins made nine saves in net before being relieved by Allison Brown, who tallied two saves.

Manhattan returns to action this weekend, closing out the home portion of the Lady Jaspers' schedule with two important MAAC games.  Manhattan will host Siena College on Friday, April 13 at 4:00 p.m. and Le Moyne College at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, April 15.  Both games will be played at Eastchester High School.  The five Lady Jasper seniors will be honored prior to the Le Moyne game.
