Staten Island, N.Y. (November 14, 2007)- Manhattan used a 24-0 run in the second half to turn a five point deficit into a 19 point lead as the Jaspers improved to 2-0 on the season with a 69-56 win over Wagner College tonight at the Spiro Sports Center. Patrick Bouli led all scorers with 20 points.
With the Seahawk lead at five 41-36, with 12:47 left in the game, Bouli sparked the decisive spurt with a three pointer. Three three pointers from Devon Austin and another from Antoine Pearson sparked Manhattan's offense, while the Jasper defense held Wagner without a point for 7:53. The lead did not drop below 13 the rest of the way as the Jaspers shot 57.1% (12-21) in the second half, including 7-10 from behind the arc.
The Jaspers led by as many as eight in the first half, but the Seahawks closed out the opening stanza with a 10-2 run to take a five point lead (31-26) into the break.
Bouli added five rebounds to his 20 points, and was joined in double figures by Darryl Crawford (11 points, six rebounds, four assists) and Pearson (10 points, four assists).
The Manhattan defense disrupted the Wagner offense, as the Seahawks tallied just five assists on 20 made field goals.
The Jaspers get back in action on Saturday, November 17, traveling to Hempstead, N.Y. to take on the Hofstra University Pride. The game is slated to begin at 4:00 p.m. and will be televised on Fox Sports-New York.
