MEN'S SOCCER FALLS 6-1 TO NIAGARA IN MAAC CHAMPIONSHIPS

Lake Buena Vista, Fla. (November 14, 2007) ? The Manhattan College men's soccer team cut a two-goal deficit in half in the first half, but couldn't keep the momentum going in the second half and lost to Niagara in the  quarterfinals of the MAAC Championships held at the Disney Sports Complex.

Finding itself down 2-0 on Niagara goals from junior Matthew Durand on an assist from Miles Patterson and Rob Chipman on an assist from Anthony DiBiase, the Jaspers brought a goal back in the 36th minute on a great strike from senior Josh Swett off a flick from junior Fernando Londono.

After dominating the rest of the first half, the Jaspers suffered a letdown three minutes into the second half when Stephen Kauble took a Patterson pass and slid past two Manhattan defenders to score what proved to be the deciding goal.  Trying to push forward to comeback into the game, the Jaspers then gave up additional goals, from Patterson, Durand and Jordan DeRoy.

Manhattan actually outshot Niagara 16-14 in the game, and had five corner kicks to Niagara's five.
