Jersey City, N.J. (November 1, 2007)- Kara Bucci tallied two goals as Manhattan closed out the 2007 season with a 3-1 MAAC win at Saint Peter's this afternoon, defeating the Peahens for the 10th straight season. The Lady Jaspers end the season with an overall record of 7-7-4 (4-4-1 MAAC) to finish at .500 or better for the second straight season, the first time this has been accomplished in the history of the program.
Bucci started the scoring for the Lady Jaspers at the 17:25 mark, as she found the back of the net off a pass from Courtney McMahon. The assist was the 17th of her career for McMahon, who already ranks second on the Lady Jaspers' career assist list after only two seasons in Riverdale.
In the 20th minute, Manhattan doubled its advantage, as Caroline Morse one-touched a pass from Mikaela Coni past the Peahen goalkeeper to make the score 2-0.
Saint Peter's cut the lead in half just over 10 minutes later, and the Lady Jaspers' took a 2-1 lead into the break.
Manhattan applied consistent offensive pressure in the second half, and tallied an important insurance goal in the 76th minute. Meaghan Dobson lofted a cross into the area, and Bucci was there to complete the scoring chance to provide the final margin.
The Lady Jaspers held a 21-6 advantage in shots, and a 7-3 advantage in corners.
Alicia DeFino earned the win in net for Manhattan, picking up the 21st win of her career to finish second all-time in program history. Her 1.22 goals against average tops the Manhattan career list.
Caitlin Trupiano tallied three saves for Manhattan in 62:56 off the bench, and Alyssa Bachowski played 5:02 minutes to close out the game.
