SIENA DOWNS MEN'S BASKETBALL, 80-69

Riverdale, N.Y. (January 21, 2007)-  Siena raced out to a 24-6 lead and fought off several Manhattan comeback bids to post an 80-69 win this afternoon at Draddy Gym, snapping the Jaspers' six game win streak.  Manhattan drops to 9-9 overall and 6-2 in MAAC play, while the Saints improve to 10-8, 6-3 in MAAC play.

Siena scored 12 of the first 13 points of the game, and extended its game-opening run to 24-6, the Saints' largest lead of the game, with 9:42 to play in the first half.  Manhattan would gradually whittle away at the lead, pulling to within six, 29-23, following a Patrick Bouli three-pointer with 2:15 to play, and again following an Antoine Pearson layup with 1:30 to play in the opening stanza, but Siena scored the final five points of the half to take a 36-25 into the locker room.

In the second half, following an Arturo Dubois dunk with 18:46 remaining to pull the Jaspers within nine, 36-27, Siena would extend the lead back to 17, 45-28, using a 9-1 run capped by a Edwin Ubiles conventional three-point play with 16:52 left to play.  The Jaspers would continue to fight the entire 40 minutes, but were unable to claw any closer than eight the rest of the way.

Arturo Dubois tallied a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds, adding three assists and two blocks to pace the Manhattan offense.  Dubois is now just three points shy of becoming the 28th Jasper to record 1000 or more career points.  Joining Dubois in double-figures was Devon Austin, who returned from a two-game layoff due to illness to score 16 points.

Kenny Hasbrouck tallied a game-high 22 points as all five Siena starters reached double-figured in the scoring column.  David Ryan added 15 points and 13 rebounds, while Ronald Moore chipped in with 10 points and a game-high nine assists.

Manhattan gets back in action on Wednesday, January 24, traveling to Baltimore, Md. to take on Loyola in a MAAC contest slated to begin at 7:00 p.m.
