COLUMBIA DEFEATS WOMEN'S LACROSSE, 13-6

New York, N.Y. (April 15, 2006)- Manhattan trailed by just one, 4-3, at the break, but Columbia scored six of the first seven goals of the second half to take home a 13-6 win this morning. The Lady Jaspers fall to 5-7 on the season.

The Lions scored four of the game's first five goals to take a 4-1 lead 8:16 into the game, but Manhattan found its offensive rhythm late in the half, as Alicia Psillos and Molly Pheterson each found the back of the net in the final 10 minutes of the half to pull the Lady Jaspers within one, 4-3, at the half.

After Columbia's run to begin the second stanza, goals by Brenna Tinari and Jillian McGowan cut the deficit to five, 10-6, but the Lady Jaspers would draw no closer.

McGowan paced Manhattan with two goals and one assist.

Ashley Devins tallied 15 saves for the Lady Jaspers, who return to action on Tuesday, April 18, traveling to New Britain, Conn. to take on Central Connecticut State at 4:00 p.m.
