WOMEN'S SOCCER FALL TO FAIRFIELD 5-0

Fairfield, Conn. (October 13, 2006)-Fairfield's Casey Frobey scored two second half goals as part of a five goal attack as the Stags defeated Manhattan 5-0 on Friday night. The Lady Jaspers played Fairfield even for much of the first half, as the game was scoreless for the first 33 minutes.

However, Fairfield used a quick two goal burst to gain the advantage. Alex Caram scored at the 33:20 mark, followed by a goal from Ahna Johnson at 37:59. The Stags out shot Manhattan 9-3 in the first half, but goalie Alicia DeFino prevented the lead from becoming any larger by making five saves. The Lady Jaspers held a 2-1 advantage in corner kicks in the first stanza.

In the second half, Frobey scored the first of her two goals in the 59th minute, and added goal number two at the 67:16 point in the second half.

The Lady Jaspers attempted seven shots on net, four of which had to be saved by Fairfield's goalie Brett Maron. Manhattan's Chrissy Reina led the way for the Lady Jaspers with 2 shots.

Manhattan returns to action Sunday when they take on local rivals Iona College in New Rochelle. Kick-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
