Poughkeepsie, N.Y. (January 18, 2006)- Manhattan saw its 10 game win streak come to an end tonight, as the Jaspers dropped a 77-68 decision to Marist at the McCann Center on the Marist campus.
Arturo Dubois posted game-highs with 26 points and 12 rebounds to record his fourth double-double on the season. The Jaspers fall to 10-5, 6-1 in MAAC play, while the Red Foxes improve to 9-6, 3-4 in MAAC play.
The two sides traded baskets to open the game, and Marist led by just one, 15-14, before the Red Foxes used an 11-0 run to take a 26-14 lead with 8:46 left in the opening stanza. Manhattan was able to cut the lead to six, 28-22, before a 7-0 Marist run pushed the lead to 13, 35-22, 4:51 before the break. Manhattan would outscore the Red Foxes, 12-5 the rest of the half to go into the locker room trailing by six, 40-34.
Marist scored the first four points of the second half to push the lead back to 10, and Manhattan could climb no closer than six the rest of the way, as each Manhattan surge was answered by the Marist.
Jason Wingate (16 points) and
Jeff Xavier (12 points) joined Dubois in double figures, while
CJ Anderson was limited to a collegiate low six points over a collegiate low 20 minutes due to foul trouble.
Ryan Stilphen paced Marist with 21 points and 11 rebounds, while Jared Jordan added seven points, nine rebounds, and a game-high 10 assists.
Manhattan gets back in action on Friday, January 20, hosting Canisius at Draddy Gym. The game is slated to begin at 7:00 p.m.
