Bronx, N.Y. (September 4, 2005)-
Alicia DeFino tallied her second straight shutout as Manhattan downed Bronx-rival Fordham, 2-0, this afternoon to even its record at 2-2-0. The win was the Lady Jaspers' first win against Fordham since the 1999 season.
Despite being outshot, 14-8, DeFino's nine saves kept the Lady Jaspers in the game until
Jaclyn Pancotti broke the scoreless game at the 66:21 mark, beating Fordham keeper Allie Cacciotti with a shot from the top of the box.
Brandy Luther added an insurance goal at the 79:14 mark, heading in a cross from
Jess Garcia to make the score 2-0.
Cacciotti tallied four saves as Manhattan handed the Rams their first loss of the season.
Manhattan gets back in action on Friday, September 9, when the Lady Jaspers travel to Youngstown, OH to participate in the Penguin Classic, taking on Youngstown State at 7:30 p.m. before battling Binghamton University on Sunday, September 11 at 11:00 a.m.
