Riverdale, N.Y. (September 27, 2005)--Lady Jasper senior
Megan O'Dorisio recorded her third consecutive double-double on Tuesday night, but Manhattan Volleyball fell to Army in four games (17-30, 28-30, 30-26, 25-30) at Gillis Fieldhouse in West Point, N.Y.
O'Dorisio, who was one of two Lady J's with double-digit kills on the night, pounded out 22 in the loss to go along with 11 defensive digs. Senior
Maggie Pfeifer, who is the reigning MAAC Co-Offensive Player of the Week, was the other Lady Jasper to eclipse the 10-kill mark, notching 13. On the defensive side, four Manhattan players posted more than 10 digs in the match, with senior libero
Ashley Davis leading the way with 21. Freshman
Andrea Reiff was second on the squad with 17 digs.
After dropping the first game by a 13-point margin and being edged out in the second game by two, the Lady Jaspers came out firing in the third frame to build an early lead that they would not relinquish. In game four, however, the balanced Army attack, which had four players reach double figures in kills, outlasted Manhattan to seal the victory. West Point setter Abby Casciato dished out a match-high 53 assists, while outside hitter Eileen Cassidy came up just shy of a triple-double with 16 kills, 13 digs, and eight assists.
Manhattan Volleyball returns to the court this weekend, as they participate in the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore Invitational. In their lone match on Friday, September 30, the Lady Jaspers square off against host school UMES at 7:00 p.m. The following day Manhattan plays Delaware State University at 10:00 a.m. and Coppin State University at 1:00 p.m.
